The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences at ܽƵ and the Iowa Rural Health Associationareproud tojoin communities across America in celebration ofNational Rural Health Day(NRHD)on November21, 2024.The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and rural-focused organizationsthroughoutthe United States set aside the third Thursday of Novemberto recognize NRHD.This annual eventis an opportunity to celebrate the“PowerofRural”and honor the individuals and organizationsdedicated toaddressingtheuniquehealthcareneeds of nearly61 million peopleliving in rural America.

“It is of vital importance that we ensure all ruralcommunitieshave the opportunity to be healthy and have access to affordable, quality health care regardless of where they call home,” saidDr. Cassity Gutierrez, Professor of Health Sciences&Executive Director of the Iowa Rural Health Association.The Iowa Rural Health Associationis proud to recognize the incredible work of health professionals and volunteers in our communityonNational Rural Health Dayand throughout theyear.”

Community members and stakeholders are invited to participate in the following NRHD activities to help celebrate the Power of Rural Health:

✓&Բ;Rural Health Photo Contest: Do you love rural, health, or any combination of the two? Then share it with us! IRHA is proud to present the 1st Annual National Rural Health Day Photo Contest. Submissions of photos will be accepted until 11:59 PM CST on November 28, 2024. The photo must be taken in Iowa and must be taken by the submitter. The winner will be announced by December 1. Selected photographs will be shared in upcoming issues of the weekly IRHA Friday Update. One winner will receive a FREE one-year membership for 2025 to the IRHA. Submit via the following link:
